Hi I’m Sara, founder of Field & Thread and a heritage consultant with a love of big ideas, great stories, and getting things done.
After 20 years working across the museum and cultural sector, I set up Field & Thread to offer flexible, creative support to the kinds of organisations I care about most, museums, heritage sites and community led projects.
I’ve worked in local authority museums, led capital redevelopments, written countless funding bids, collaborated with designers and architects, and developed strategies to help teams grow with clarity and purpose. I understand how complex cultural work can be, and I’m here to make it feel a little more manageable, and a lot more enjoyable.
I bring a mix of strategic thinking, creative energy, and calm, practical support. Whether you need someone to help shape your vision, unlock a tricky funding bid, plan a new exhibition or facilitate a brilliant team sessions, I’ll work alongside you to make it happen.

The name reflects how I like to work, grounding projects in the real world while pulling ideas together with care and creativity.
Field speaks to place, the landscape we live in, the communities we serve and cultural field we’re all part of. It’s about being rooted in people, purpose and local context.
Thread is about connection, weaving together strategy, stories, people and practical steps to create something strong, clear and full of meaning.
